I didn't know what a bone marrow or stem cell transplant was until I found out that I was going to need one.  Unfortunately, many of us are unfamiliar with bone marrow transplantation until we are pushed into it, if not by ourselves, then by a loved one.  Because of this, we miss out on all the good we can do by registering to be a bone marrow donor.  When you join the national registry, you have the potential to save a life.  When someone is diagnosed with life threatening illness such as leukemia or lymphoma, and their only chance for survival is a bone marrow transplant, you might be their only match.  You may be asked to donate six months from now, or twenty years from now... or maybe never.  It is important to just be in the Registry.

Thanks, Megan
